Ancients believed that each of the seven points mark the planets known at the time: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn; also Sun and Moon. Pythagoreans assumed the existence of harmony of the spheres – adequacy between real numbers, cosmos and music sounds; number 7 had special meaning for them.
